Knowledge Mobilization for Health Equity Student Collective Principles

  • Student and CRHESI objectives are mutually beneficial supporting the delivery of social, research and academic goals.
  • Objectives are identified prior to student involvement in the Collective, through discussion between students, CRHESI staff, and supervisors (if applicable), seeking to find alignment and best fit with existing and emerging CRHESI projects.
  • Learning is best when relationships are initiated and developed in ways that are respectful and responsive, tailored to each person’s needs; learning is self-directed and supported by the Collective in whole or in part.
  • Regular and scheduled communication is expected between the Collective members with CRHESI staff.
  • Building capacity is unique to each person and includes reflection and acting in peer mentorship roles.
  • Mobilizing knowledge is an active ongoing process that spans across activities such as knowledge creation (e.g., research results, narrative expressions) to knowledge utilization and uptake and can occur in traditional and innovative ways (e.g., didactic presentations and paper resources, use of new technologies).
  • We acknowledge that our knowledge is best when pooled and we co-create new knowledge.
  • Communications on behalf of or about CRHESI by the Student Collective are carried out as representatives of and responsible to CRHESI and its stated research principles.
  • CRHESI is guided by a principle of active engagement within the CRHESI network, and with others, including both academic and community members.
