“Public health can’t do it alone: We need a network approach to beat the #secondwave”

A team at the Lab for Knowledge Translation in Health at Western University has compiled examples of grass-roots communications and interventions that have successfully cut through the digital noise and affected how populations understand the pandemic. The group is now building a network of coordinated and supported professionals to help spread awareness and accurate information about COVID:

Our CIHR-funded team wants to bring the power of social media micro-influencers and citizen science to public health. We are building a digital communications tool-kit to catalyze more grassroots public health communications campaigns. We are actively searching for public health leaders and communications professionals to help us design and launch this resource. We will also be setting up a working group for industry professionals, policy leaders, and researchers to contribute their insights to our work. Read more in our latest blog and fill out this form to join the working group.

Attention Western Students: Western’s Global Health Equity Collective is recruiting

The Global Health Equity Collective is an organization of graduate and undergraduate students who create meaningful research, engagement and personal development opportunities for students of all disciplines at Western University. GHEC’s primary focus revolves around global health, but GHEC also works with the Centre for Research on Health Equity and Social Inclusion (CRHESI) on connecting students with local and community based research related to health equity and social inclusion and has a seat on CRHESI’s Governance Board. GHEC acts as a conduit for social action and public education while gradually developing a network of student organizations interested in global health, ethics and equity through collaborations which include Western International’s Power & Global Health Day as well as Western’s 2020 Indigenous Health Conference: A Journey to Mino Bimaadiziiwin. We are recruiting for a variety of volunteer student leadership positions, with varying degrees of commitment and responsibility.
