Beyond Giving Voice will be hosted as a series of virtual interactive symposium webinars in June 2020. We invite you to join us as we explore theoretical, methodological, and ethical implications of claims to be ‘giving voice’ to children through research. While presentations will be focused on qualitative research with young people, the knowledge shared will be equally relevant to the design and conduct of methodologies with other populations.

Fiona Webster and her team recently published an editorial in the Canadian Journal of Pain that explores the “implications of the COVID-19 pandemic for people with chronic pain, and in particular, those also living with low socioeconomic status.”

In this video, Julie B (co-founder, coordinator and Board Chair of SafeSpace London) and Jodi Hall (volunteer and researcher with SafeSpace London and professor in Doula Studies and the Western-Fanshawe Collaborative BScN Nursing Program at Fanshawe) provide an overview SafeSpace London, including an update on the organization’s work and advocacy in context of COVID-19 (recorded at the City Symposium on Gender Equality on March 31, 2020).

Today the Centre for Research on Health Equity and Social Inclusion and the Pillar Nonprofit Network launch a series of essays, articles, and reflections titled Voices from the Margins of a Crisis. The series presents a critical account of how social inequities unfold around us during the COVID-19 pandemic, blending background research and first-hand perspectives.
